RHI compliant heat meters

RHI compliant heat meterTo claim the Non-Domestic RHI (and in some cases to claim the Domestic RHI), appropriate heat or steam meters must be installed.

There are specific meter requirements in terms of:

  • positioning
  • calibration and accuracy
  • suitability (e.g. is the meter set up correctly for the liquid in the system)
  • installation (meters must be installed in line with manufacturer's instructions and appropriate for the system they are monitoring, e.g. flow rates)

Heat meters used for the Non-Domestic RHI must also comply with accuracy class 2 or better of the Measuring Instruments Directive (MID). If heat meters are required for the Domestic RHI then they must comply with accuracy class 3 or better.

Heat meter database

Our database of heat meters provides independent verification of the Measuring Instruments Directive (MID) compliance and relevant characteristics of heat meters suitable for use by installations wishing to claim the Non-Domestic RHI.

The heat meter database provides the only list of independently verified MID accuracy class 2 products which you can select based on your specific requirements. Contact details for each product are available on the product pages. Please note, we do not supply or install heat meters.

Further information for heat meter manufacturers can be found in the guidance notes for submissions.
